Bachir Lazhar (Mohamed Fellag), a 55-year-old Algerian immigrant, offers the school his services as a substitute teacher and is quickly hired. This film is presented by the Illinois State Universaity Department of English, and will feature a post-show conversation with Randy Michael Testa (author, and Associate Director of PreK -16 Programs in Professional Education at Harvard University) to help contextualize some of the issues highlighted in the film.
