The story of the contract farmer is the story of what’s changing in rural America. Power in agriculture is changing hands, but few people know what’s happening to the farmers producing our food. UNDER CONTRACT tells this story through the lens of global poultry farming. NR. Free to attend.
Presented by the Illinois State University Dept. of Sociology & Anthropology. With support from the College of Arts and Sciences Interdisciplinary Initiative Grant, films from this series are part of a semester-long focus on Food Justice and Sustainability at Illinois State University. These films depict deep inequalities and environmental hazards of our global food system. They also offer hope for a future of farming that healthful and sustainable for both people and the planet.
